Not Your Mother's Wallpaper

last four images from house of turquoise

I love all the current wall coverings.  They have come a long way since the ivy-in-the-kitchen wallpaper.  My absolute favorites are any type of grass-cloth, hence the background on my blog.  I hope to put wallpaper in a powder room, dinning room, or bedroom once we move.  They can look modern, classic, glamorous, or shabby chic.  No matter your style, there is a wall covering for you!

Do you think any of these images are beautiful?  Have you used any wallpaper in your home?  Or do you have a sad history with wallpaper and would never use it?  Let me know what you think!

  1. Hi Abby,

I just stumbled onto your blog - love it! And love that wallpaper selection, I wish I could find the courage to use it more at home.

  2. Wow! These photographs make you want to redecorate your home with wall paper. The old notion of undesirable wall paper is no longer. The design, texture and style of modern wall paper can give any room great character. Thank you Abby for sharing those amazing photos. I think I just got inspired to redo my bedroom!!

  3. Thanks Abby! How fun to have you stop by from so far away. I went to visit your blog, and you have the most beautiful images!

Angelica, your comment made my day! I was beginning to think I was the only person who liked them! ;-) Can't wait to hear about BlogHer.

  4. Of course I love the last 4 images. :) I also didn't realize the wallpaper we put in our powder room in the main house is called "grass cloth" (but ours in navy). I like the way a lot of the designers used a bold hit of wallpaper, but only on one wall. Reminds me of 10-20 years ago when the US was coming out of the "all white walls" decorating phase, and ppl started experimenting with "accent walls" (painted in an actual color). Follow?

  5. Love this! I have the bird wallpaper (in kraft & black) in my office and I have a variation of the tree wallpaper in a bedroom at my lake house. I am a wallpaper freak!

I especially love the one on the ceiling. Bookmarking that idea!
