Friday Favorites

Here is a question for you to start your Friday off right.  Who do you know that loves butter, mayonnaise, and sour cream the most?  Why it's Paula Deen, ya'll!  If you have ever tried one of her recipes, you know that this southern bell does not mess around.  She will use as much butter or mayo as it takes to make her food taste divine.  These Shrimp Stuffed Deviled Eggs do not disappoint.  I know that you are probably thinking, "I'm not going to try those."  But just do it anyway.  You need very little shrimp, as in less than a 1/4 pound, so this is not an expensive recipe. You probably already have all the ingredients except the shrimp and dill in your fridge. Besides the shrimp, this recipe uses Dijon mustard instead of yellow, and includes fresh dill.  Do not skip the dill.  I have made them without the shrimp and they are still fantastic.  The eggs are even tastier the second day.  Nervous about the proper way to hard boil an egg?  Find out the best way here.

Monday is the first official day of summer, (and my mom's birthday--woop, woop!) and I find it hard to believe that the end of June is near!  I am reminded that summer is fleeting, and I only have a short time with Jack before he starts school.  I've heard a few of you talking about making a list with your kids about what you want to do this summer, and I think Teach Mama has a great take on that.  You can check it out here.  I just discovered her blog, and I can tell I will be going back and using her as a resource.  What is on your must do list this summer?

Father's Day is upon us. This blogger does such a great job sharing this family's story, that you just must read...BOTH of the posts on this father.

The first, titled Headrush, paints the picture of what kind of man and family they are.  The second post, which is so well written I could hardly stand it, is called Lights Out.  If you read this at work, you may want to wait until the moment when it won't matter if your mascara is dripping down your face.  Anyone who has experienced loss will appreciate her post.  These were the best posts I read this week.

Did I mention that Monday is my mom's birthday?  To get in the spirit of parties, head over to Party Perfect.  She has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, and her pictures and ideas are so inspiring.  Not only does she feature adorable children's parties, but sweet ideas for adults as well.  Here is a few more pictures for good measure.  It is Friday, after all.

Have a lovely weekend!

Does anyone have fun plans for Father's day?  What was the best themed party you've been to or created yourself?  Will anyone be trying the summer cards with their kiddos?

  1. The blog looks great! And thank you for sharing your mom with us this week! We cannot wait to see her!
And yes, I lovelovelove the summer idea cards. That's something I would love to try out- and by letting the kids make their own cards, it's a whole 'nother craft event too! ;)

  4. When I saw the deviled egg photo, my first thought was "I wonder what that is," followed immediately by "I don't care, I'm trying it!" Believe it or not, our Sam's Club (like Costco) typically has really good fish. Several times they have had the most BEAUTIFUL shrimp, but been out of cocktail sauces (!!!). Now I have a fun recipe for that shrimp, no cocktail sauce required. As an added bonus, my baby girl is ready to start hard boiled egg yolks - what a perfect weekend plan!
